Message: We are entering a school year like none other.  2020 will go down in the history books for sure!  You are going to need every possible tool in your teacher toolbelt to survive, and today I would like to introduce you—or possibly remind you—of a tool that is sure to help you faith flourish on the job.

There is a strong temptation for Christian teachers to think they have to turn off their faith once they step into school.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  The Christian teacher does have rights to live out their faith, and an organization that assists you with this is Gateways.

Since learning about Gateways years ago from a colleague, I have been enlightened and empowered to live out my faith boldly on the job.  Gateways has likewise led me to remind Christian students of their rights to do the same.  It has completely changed the way I view my teacher lifestyle.

Gateways has reminded me of the importance of keeping up our school’s teacher prayer group that meets every Thursday morning during the school year.  It has led me to encourage a group of Christian students to meet in my room over lunch to discuss the book of John.  It has changed the way I teach lessons, using Biblical references to enhance student learning.
